University of North Carolina School of MedicineThe Personalized Medicine Coalition honors Dr. Norman E. “Ned” Sharpless for his contributions to cancer research, precision oncology, and personalized medicine. A physician-scientist and former Director of the National Cancer Institute and Acting Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Sharpless has helped advance research and policies supporting more personalized approaches to cancer care. His career reflects a commitment to translating scientific discovery into better treatment for patients. Dr. Sharpless will receive the award at the Personalized Medicine Conference, November 18–19, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency Boston/Cambridge.
